Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are very proud and happy to announce that the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Italian Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine and Farriery, has organized the
“45th World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine Congress”, which will be hosted by the Foundation for Zooprophylactic and Livestock Initiatives of BRESCIA – ITALY.
The Congress will be held from Wednesday (afternoon) - 31st August until Saturday (morning) - 03rd September 2022. We will organize “Post-Congress Activities” (tours) on Saturday (afternoon)
and Sunday (all day). Furthermore we will guarantee a “Spouses Program” for those accompanying the speakers/attendees for the entire duration of the congress. More details will follow about the Congress schedule, “Post-Congress Activities” and “Spouses Program”.
Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic evolution we will organize the Congress with both the options available, attending in presence in BRESCIA and online.
The themes of the Congress will be as follows:
• “History of animals, vets and the military”
• “Historical intersections of human, animal and environmental health”
• “Free topics”.
Furthermore there will be a new category of conference contributions: “Informal contributions”. These will be short papers or posters that discuss memories, anecdotes, oral histories and biographies.
They should be distinguished in the programme from ‘formal contributions’, which are papers that present original research findings. We have proposed this change to try and encourage participation by those
who are not performing original historical research but still have a valuable contribution to make to veterinary history.
All the works to be presented at the event will be published in the Congress Acts.
